Velma “Elaine” Williamson Rollins, 79, of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away at her cottage — on March 16, 2026.

She was born on April 14, 1946, the beloved daughter of James “Zeke” Elzo Williamson and Bertha “Bert” Moon Williamson.

Elaine lived a life marked by faith, kindness, leadership, honesty, generosity, and joyful humor.

Elaine spent her early years in Hapeville, Georgia, where she graduated from Hapeville High School. She later earned her master’s degree in education from the University of West Georgia, beginning what would become a deeply fulfilling and impactful career. Elaine devoted more than 30 years to teaching, retiring from Chapel Hill Middle School. She thrived in the classroom, and her love for children and education was undeniable.

She received recognition in Who’s Who Among American Teachers and earned a distinguished PTA award. Her influence extended well beyond academics—she uplifted her students, encouraged their potential, and touched countless lives.

Her faith was central to her life. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Douglasville Ga.

She also served faithfully through the Eastern Star, Rainbows, Masons, nursing homes, and many years of church involvement. Known for her expressive love for Jesus, she never met a stranger and greeted each day with purpose, warmth, and sincerity.

Her honesty, generosity, and straightforward nature endeared her to many.

Elaine married the love of her life, David J. Rollins, and lovingly cared for him throughout his long battle with MS.

She is preceded in death by David and by her parents.

She is survived by her children Jeanine Laymon, Jeff Laymon, and Kenneth Rollins; her grandchildren Tyler Laymon, Kimberly Santos Laymon, Shirley Rollins, and Justin Rollins; and her great‑grandchildren Kyler Betsill, Kay Betsill, and Kollins Betsill.

She is also survived by her siblings Donnie Williamson, Nancy McPherson, and Rodger McPherson; many nieces and nephews; her cherished family friend Pam; and her devoted caregivers Joyce Maxwell, Katherine Williams, and Kimmer Stallings, who lovingly supported her in her later years.

In accordance with her wishes, Elaine was cremated.
