Vaughnceal "Vonnie" Davis

Vonnie Nichols Davis passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025. 

She was born on April 27, 1935 in Clayton, Georgia. Vonnie grew up in the Thornwell Home and School for Children, in Clinton, SC. After graduation from high school, Vonnie moved to the Emory-Dekalb area to attend business school. It was there, living in a boarding house owned by Olivia Davis, who would later become her mother in law, that she met her future husband. Vonnie married William Newman Davis (Bill) and they enjoyed over 50 years of marriage.

Vonnie was an active member of Central Baptist Church until the time she could no longer attend due to health. She often spoke of her special friends there from her Sunday School Class led by Charlie Holloway.

Vonnie was predeceased by her husband, and son (Newman Mattison Davis). She is survived by her son’s Ronnie (wife Melinda), Steven, and her daughter Joy. Vonnie also has two special grandchildren, Erica and Shannon Davis.

According to her wishes she was cremated. A private immediate family service will be held at a later date.

The Davis family has entrusted West Georgia Crematory with arrangements.
