Twyla Dawn Holbrook, a beloved resident of Douglasville, Georgia, entered her heavenly home on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on December 5, 1966, in Cobb County, Georgia, Twyla was the cherished daughter of Mr. Bacel Woody and the late Mrs. Laraine Woody.
A devoted caregiver, Twyla dedicated her life to serving the special needs community with unwavering love and compassion. As a self-employed caregiver, she touched countless lives with her gentle spirit and generous heart, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her kindness and dedication made her an angel among us, and her memory will be treasured forever.
Twyla's greatest joy was her family, especially her close bond with her grandson, Nolan. Known for spoiling him with new boots and perfectly creased jeans, their relationship was a testament to her boundless love. Twyla also enjoyed shopping, often putting others before herself, and found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, such as tending to her flowers, watching birds, and spending time at the beach.
Her home was a sanctuary of love and laughter, with the pool house, built by her husband and grandson, serving as a backdrop for countless cherished memories. Despite the pool's occasional challenges, it was a source of joy and togetherness for Twyla and her loved ones.
Twyla was preceded in death by her mother, Laraine Woody; her sister, Medina Woody; her grandmother, Clara Melton; her father-in-law, Robert Holbrook; her mother-in-law, Alice Holbrook; her brothers-in-law, Mack Holbrook and Anthony Holbrook; and her sister-in-law, Debra Bagwell.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Ricky Holbrook; her daughter and son-in-law, Nashira and Bobby Hartshorn; her son, Destin Holbrook; her cherished grandchildren, Nolan and Laken; her father, Bacel Woody; her sister and brother-in-law, Marteah and Jerry Townsend; her niece and nephews, Dashia, Jaden, and Blaze Townsend; and her precious great-nephew, Dregen Townsend.
Twyla's chosen family, including Maricha Summey, Betty Clark, Lewy Nelson, and Becca Reagan, held a special place in her heart. She will also be deeply missed by Bryson and Jax Reagan, who lovingly knew her as "Banana" and will forever cherish her memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to West Georgia Crematory in Austell, GA. Twyla's legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
