Timothy Charles Chaffin

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend on May 8, 2025. He passed peacefully at his home, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity.

Born on April 11, 1951, he grew up with a deep curiosity for the world around him—an explorer in every sense. Whether it was hunting, fishing, or camping under the stars, the great outdoors was his sanctuary. His adventurous spirit didn’t stop at the treetops—he also earned his wings as a private pilot, finding great joy in the freedom of the skies.

He had a song in his heart and often one on his lips. A talented musician, he could play nearly anything with strings, though he was most often heard bringing life to a tune on his harmonica, guitar, or piano. Music was not just a talent of his—it was a part of his soul.

After graduating from Stone Mountain High School in 1969, he went on to work at Western Electric, later AT&T, where he retired as a dedicated and respected Material Handler. But his real work—his life’s passion—was helping others. He gave freely of his time and talents, expecting nothing in return.

A brilliant and creative mind, he had a knack for building what others might only imagine. With exceptional skill in woodworking, mechanics, and electrical work, he often designed and constructed what he—or someone else—needed. If he thought he could help, he did so without hesitation.

He was a man of strong faith, a Christian who lived with love, respect, and honor for God. His kindness to others was present throughout his life—and was extended to many pets that he loved and accepted as part of his family.

He was the beloved husband of 31 years to Patricia Chaffin, a devoted father to Tim (Leanda) Chaffin, Jay (Kerri) Evans, Arleen Bridgeman (Carter), Julie Vidal (Chaffin), a cherished grandfather to Karleigh Chaffin, Leah Chaffin, Daniel Evans, Sean Evans, and Devin (Miranda) Jimmerson, and a great-grandfather to Bentleigh Bennett. He is also survived by his sisters Judith Moore and Karen (Bill) Sherman. He was preceded in death by his father Glen Wilson Chaffin, mother Margaret T. Rooks (Nichter), and sisters Pam Chaffin and Geri Frank (Chaffin).

He was a good-hearted prankster who brought laughter into many lives, a steady hand in times of trouble, and a beacon of love and warmth for his family. He was a great dad, brother, and husband—and he will be missed more than words can express.

His memory will live on in the woods he loved, the music he played, the things he built, and most of all, in the hearts of those he touched.
