Maron Kaye Mathews

June 3, 1946 — March 25, 2026

Marietta

Maron Kaye Mathews, 79, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at her home. She was born on June 3, 1946, in Pleasant Hill, Tennessee, to the late Charles William Duerr and Anna Eloise Hale Duerr.

A 1964 graduate of Marietta High School, Maron was active and spirited from an early age — a basketball player with energy to spare and a personality that filled whatever room she entered. Those qualities never left her. She was a force to be reckoned with: outspoken, unfiltered, and completely unapologetic about it. She told the truth whether you asked for it or not, moved through life at a pace most people couldn’t keep up with, and had a gift for being the life of the party without ever trying.

Maron spent her professional life as an Office Assistant at Cobb Eye Center, where she specialized in insurance billing — a role that suited her precision and tenacity well. Outside of work, she was most at home in the water. She swam regularly, either in her own pool or at the senior center three times a week during the winter months, and she never passed up an opportunity to get to the beach. The water was where she found her peace.

In addition to her parents, Maron was preceded in death by her sister, Faye Cartwright, of Wichita, Kansas.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Myron Mathews, of Marietta; her niece, Martha Ann Rogers-Stephens (Robin), and grand-nephew, Tristan Rogers-Stephens, all of Dallas; and her niece, Tracy Roberts, of Boston, Massachusetts.

Maron Kaye Mathews was exactly who she was, every single day — and the world was more interesting for it. She will be deeply missed.

Services for Mrs. Mathews are pending at this time.
