The family of Mary Anne Riddle Ives, aged 53, wishes to announce the passing on September 1, 2014 of their beloved mother and wife. Mary Anne was diagnosed with malignant breast cancer in July of 2007.

Mary Anne was born in Avon, Ohio in 1960 and was raised in Detroit, Michigan by her parents Russell Edgar (deceased) and Elizabeth Abel Riddle (deceased) along with her brothers William (deceased), David and Mark Riddle. Mary Anne attended Michigan State and the University of Michigan earning a BA in Mass Communications in 1980. She married Dana Howard Ives in 1984 and, after earning her teaching degree in 1989, taught 6thgrade for three years with the Lake Washington School District, Redmond, WA. She and Dana became proud parents of Russell Dana in 1993 and Carolyn Grace in 1996. The family lived in Washington until 1998 and moved to Pittsburgh, PA. After spending 8 years there, the family moved to Carrollton in September of 2006.

A public memorial service, officiated by Pastor Karen Kagiyama, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on September 6th at the United Methodist Church on 206 Newnan Street, Carrollton. Ample parking is available around the church and across the street at a multi-level deck. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to contribute to your local charity in Mary Anne’s name.
Mary Anne enjoyed a very large circle of friends in Michigan, Washington, Pennsylvania and Georgia. Her radiant smile and loving nature will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

Dana and family…I saw Michael Weibel (McAuliffe El) today and he told me that my good friend and teaching partner had passed. Dana, I remember once Mary Anne and I were working (playing too) well into the evening, you came to school and made us both go home!! We really were ‘planning’ for our kids (and playing, laughing, and into our own little world).
And Russell, I predicted your birth because your mom and I were so close and so in sync with each other…well no other way to put this but we ‘cycled’ every month together. One month, I got mine but she didn’t and we both knew she was pregnant with you!!!
I held both of you when you were new babies!
Your mother was an outstanding, brilliant 6th grade teacher and our team (Mike too) was so strong that the principal at the middle school told me that everyone knew the 6th graders that came from McAuliffe because they were about ‘business’, they looked out for each other, worked well together and were skilled-ready for 7th grade!!
I hope these words reach you as it is coming up on Mary Anne’s second spiritual birthday. My heart is heavy and I will hold you in prayer on that day!!!
