John Floyd Hamilton

In Memorial

Mr. J. Floyd Hamilton, age 74, of Marietta, Georgia died November 10, 2011 from a head injury caused from a fall. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, he was a 1959 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi where he was on the tennis team all four years. He was also a member of Omicron Delta Kapppa Leadership Fraternity and Kappa Alpha Order. Floyd served in the United States Army as an officer from 1960 to 1962. He had a successful 33 year career with IBM, and after retiring, began his own tech support consulting company.

Floyd was an active member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, supporting various mission groups with his computer expertise. As a member of the Contemporary Sunday School Class, he served for many years as their treasurer and as a teacher. He loved participating in tennis, golf and bridge groups with his many friends. Survivors include his wife, Evie Mattinson Hamilton, three children, Patty Steinwedell of Austin, Texas, John Floyd Hamilton, Jr. of Charleston, West Virginia and Linda Ann Hamilton of Jacksonville, Florida, their spouses, five grandchildren; Mikaela, Robert and Thomas Steinwedell, Julia Hamilton and Adam Dehn, Sister-in-law and her husband, Ann and Jim Owens of Big Canoe, Georgia, three nephews and one niece.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in the sanctuary of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, 4385 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, Georgia 30068 at 2:00 pm with a reception following the service for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in memory of Floyd Hamilton at the above address.

    we will not be able to be there tomorrow so please know that we will be thinking about Evie, Linda, Patty, John and all the grands. Floyd was sp much fun to be with and we certainly enjoyed so much soccer together—- Atlanta, Minneapolis, and Raleigh. He was a wonderful husband, father,grandfather, and friend. He was always proud of his three children as they of him, We will miss this great man and send love to all of you
