Fredric John McCarty

Fredric (Fred) John McCarty, age 80 of Kennesaw, passed to eternal rest on Friday, January 07, 2011. He was born in Detroit, MI, on October 1, 1930, to the late Luke Anothony and Marie Catherine (Heckler) McCarty.

KENNESAW – Fredric (Fred) John McCarty, age 80 of Kennesaw, passed to eternal rest on Friday, January 07, 2011. He was born in Detroit, MI, on October 1, 1930, to the late Luke Anthony and Marie Catherine (Heckler) McCarty.

After serving in the Air Force, during the Korean conflict, Fred worked throughout the United States in the financial industry with RCA/Whirlpool, GECC, C&S Bank, finally retiring from Stratton Carpets. His greatest passion was sailing, which he taught for many years at Lake Lanier, Emory and Kennesaw College. He wrote several articles about sailing for national magazines. Fred was also very dedicated to his volunteer work with the Archdiocese of Atlanta Tribunal.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents. Left to join him later are his wife of 43 years, Catherine (Kitty) McCarty; sisters, Eileen Light of Houston Texas and Mary A. Cruse, of Gaylord MI. Another sister, Patricia A. Roache, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away in March of 2011. Fred also left behind many nieces and nephews and his two beloved companion Pomeranian, Popcorn and Ricky Ricardo.

The funeral mass is scheduled for 10:30 am, Monday, October 3, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta with Father John Walsh officiating and Father Balappa Selvaraj con celebrating. A memorial reception will follow immediately.
