Dorothy Hires

In Memorial

Dorothy Hires, a resident of Adairsville, Georgia, passed away at Floyd Specialty Hospital in Rome, Georgia on Sunday, January 23, 2011. Dorothy was born on July 13, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Edward and AliceSheehan, and was a 1934 graduate of Arbor Park High School in Oak Forest, Illinois. She is survived by her husband, Orville Hires, her daughter, Allison (Larry) Chinski, her son, Thomas (Barbara) Hires, her daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Pavlik and her daughter, Kathleen Erickson. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Sheehan, Robert Sheehan, and William Sheehan, and sisters, Irene Ruiter and Anna Mae Landeck. Following cremation, a memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1, at the First Christian Church in Adairsville, Georgia.

    I will always remember my Grandma&singleqoutess smile when I&singleqoutesd go to see her and the joy in her voice when I&singleqoutesd call. She loved me so much and that is the best feeling in the world. I will love her and miss her always.

    I remember every time we&singleqoutesd visit Grandma and Grandpa Hires&singleqoutes house growing up we&singleqoutesd alway play Memory and &qoutesexplore&qoutes their neat, but kind of scary, upstairs. đŸ™‚ Now my kids love to play Memory, and every time they do I think about being at Grandma and Grandpa&singleqoutess house.

    I have so many great memories of visiting their house in Oak Forest. The Sunday parties, the picnics, the cicadas, playing in the upstairs, and of course Aunt Dorthy&singleqoutess famous Cheeseburgers! I always looked forward to visiting them. I will miss her very much.

    Although not blood I felt like one of the granddaughters and not having my own I loved it. I will miss many things about her – too many to list. I will never forget her sweet ways. I am so proud Hayden got to know his &qoutesGrandma Grape.&qoutes She was deeply loved and will truly be missed.

    After my mom passed I told the hires family they had to share aunt Dorthy with us,she was a wonderful sweet woman and anyone who knew her loved her.She will be so missed,we love you Dorthy.
